Open research platform · in development

Everyone should be able to start, participate in and follow research.

Research should be something everyone can contribute to

Hyporia aims to open up the entire research process, not just the final results.

Planned ways to take part in the research portal.

Start research

Ask a question, formulate a hypothesis or propose a research project.

Participate in research

Contribute data, sources, analyses, counterarguments or subject expertise.

Follow research

See how investigations develop and why conclusions change.

Challenge research

Test findings, investigate alternative explanations and present new evidence.

People should be able to contribute regardless of their education, financial circumstances or institutional affiliation. All contributions must meet clear standards for evidence, objectivity and verifiability.

From one question to new knowledge

  1. Claim
  2. Sources
  3. Conflicting evidence
  4. Verifiable finding

Imagine reading a news article and questioning one of its claims.

Through Hyporia, you should be able to start an investigation, gather relevant evidence, examine conflicting information and publish a finding that others can verify.

That investigation could later contribute to a larger research project analysing how often a news outlet publishes inaccurate information, what kinds of errors occur and whether its factual accuracy improves or declines over time.

Such analyses must use scientifically sound sampling methods and distinguish between documented errors, accurate claims and unresolved questions.

Knowledge gained from one investigation should not be lost. It should provide a foundation for the next.

Open research that can be verified

We are building independent, open and self-correcting research infrastructure where people and AI can develop and verify knowledge together.

Research findings and evidence are scattered across institutions, journals and databases. This makes it difficult to find knowledge, compare conflicting studies and build on earlier work.

Hyporia.wiki is being developed to connect research questions, hypotheses, sources, data, arguments, counterevidence and findings. People and AI agents will be able to work together throughout the research process.

When new data becomes available or an earlier conclusion is challenged, it should be possible to see which parts of the knowledge base are affected. Sources, methods, assumptions and changes must remain visible and verifiable.

All knowledge should be made accessible to people and to those building AI.

Independence without private owners

Hyporia will be organised as a non-profit, member-governed association. Three principles will guide its work:

  • Member-governed, without private owners

Members participate in governance under the association’s rules, but do not own the organisation. It should be able to develop across generations.

  • No private distribution of surplus

Funds and any surplus will support research, operations and further development of the open knowledge infrastructure.

  • Funding does not buy control over conclusions

Memberships, contributions, donations, research grants and partnerships must not confer the right to direct findings. Governance, finances and methods must remain open to scrutiny.

Where are we now, and where are we going?

Hyporia is being established.

We are working on organisational structure, scientific principles, quality control, technical architecture and funding.

The road ahead

2026 — Establishment and foundations

Further develop the organisation’s governance model, scientific principles, research methodology and technical architecture.

2027 — Opening up and participation

The aim is to launch the first features of the open research portal and enable broader public participation.

Beyond — Lasting research infrastructure

Develop the platform to support a growing number of research projects, disciplines, partners and participants, nationally and internationally.

These are development goals, not promises of completed features.

Help build the research infrastructure of the future

Hyporia will be built for the community, with contributions from people with different experiences, disciplines and perspectives.

We welcome researchers, technologists, students, self-taught contributors, organisations and others committed to making knowledge more accessible and verifiable.

We also welcome collaboration with those who can contribute expertise, technology, funding and research projects without compromising scientific independence.

We do not just want to make research more accessible. We want many more people to be able to help advance it.
